It's not just a matter of how much info they display, but the consistency of it. Try connecting a volt meter to the O2 line and you'll see the signal bounces all over the place. Unless the gauge is heavily buffered (in which case it's worthless for a different reason) it's still not going to really provide you with any decent information... not even a good basis for a hunch.
