Check the rest of your fuel delivery system. the line could be clogged or something stupid like that. or you could have lost compression in your motor by messin with the ranger. a sudden spur of power on an older engine can blow gaskits and i've done it many a time, expecially on older cars. check for any leaks and if you can't find anything, check the throttle body. if you have spark and the motor won't crank, the next things are fuel and air.
