You have a problem!

Belts that frey on the edges do so because:

1. a pully is bent or loose

2. the pulleys are not all aligned. You may be able to lay a yard stick (cut it to length if need be) across all the pulleys on that belt to check. They should line up.

3. a loose component (P/S pump, alternator, etc) will throw off the alignment.


Note: Toyota is the only place to buy Toyota parts.

And, if everything is set up properly, any aftermarket name brand belt will last for many years/miles. Gates, Goodyear, etc. You don't have to use Toyota, and it won't 'fix' your problem.
