So lets go over everything. IF your trubo charged then the turbo inlet pipe is the first part of your intake. The big thing here is more volume due to increased diameter. Although this is behind the MAF sensor it again is allowing easier aspiration of the engine. IF you buy an FPIK kit from K&N or a 3" inlet kit from suprasport or someone you have a larger filter apature so you can fit a more free flowing filter.If your NA then your replacing infront of the MAF the same and behind it you'd be getting a short ram intake to increase efficency of flow and again volume.

If your turbocharged there is a whole seperate run of things that a better IC, larger IC pipping, different compressor wheel will do but it sounds like your not quite there yet.

So next on both vehicles is the intake manifold. Again its just more air moving more effeciently making the engine work less to get air. Yes there is a barly noticable increase in fuel efficency and usually a few horses from 1000rpm before redline up.
