Thanks for the reply. I have the car at work and have been slowly taking the engine back apart after work and at lunch. I removed the head yesterday finally and tried pouring water in to the water jacket with the water pump installed and the oil drain bolt out to see where the water was getting in to the pan from. I found the water to be running to the front of the motor and out behind the timing cover into the pan. I am glad I don't have a cracked block. I've spend too much at the machine shop to have a junk block.
Question for you guys. Once I remove the timing cover I am hoping to find a threaded hole I can plug or a freeze plug hole, but if not do I need to go hunting for a 6m-ge timing cover?
