Pulling engine?

Ok guys,
I'm pulling the MGE out of my 87 mkIII. So I'm going to pull it trans and all, as i gather that seems to be the method of choice, and it will make my job easier.
so 2 quick starting questions
1. It looks like I can just leave the intake stuff (excluding the intake plumbing of course) in place while I pull it, is that correct? and a good idea?

2. where are you pulling the exhaust? I assume at the collector, you are not pulling the manifold are you?

Usually this is my brothers job, but he's 800 miles away, and we have another lemons Race coming up in 3 weeks
