It's much easier to turbocharge the 2jz-gte due to it's lower compression ratio. Also, the 2jz-gte has oil squirters to cool the pistons, which also helps the engine to dissipate the additional heat associated with the higher turbocharged horsepower levels. Lastly, the 2jz-gte's head flow- especially the intake side, is superior to the 2jz-ge.
