Hi,
I have a chance to buy a 1985 Supra. I'm reading up as much as I can about 1985 Supras, but some advice would be appreciated. Here's the ad blurb: ------------------- start ad 1985 Toyota Supra, 6 cylinder, 5 speed, 160k miles, all power equipment (including sunroof, steering, brakes, windows, locks), tilt steering, stereo, alarm system, all original. Two owner car, never wrecked. Owned by older (retired) lady for last 14 years. Straight body, small rust spot "nickle size" around missing antenna. Needs clutchfan for A/C, quoted at $132 (A/C already gassed up). Has brand new battery. Good tread on 14" Toyota Supra tires. Was licensed in NV. Doesn't smoke, doesn't burn oil, never has any problems passing smog. Excellent gas mileage, about 27-28mpg in town. Fast and peppy little car, very sporty and a head-turner. Has never been raced or torn up. Has been garaged or under carport most of the time. This has been the most maintenance-free car I've ever owned. Passenger side window needs to be put back on track after a guy in las vegas tried to break in last summer. I have the rollers but hadn't gotten it fixed. Dark silvery-blue color (original), blue cloth interior. Cleaned up inside and out..... ready to go.... Reason for selling...sits too low, have back injury and difficult to get in and out. ------------------- end ad What things should I pay attention to while looking at this car? while driving? What things should I ask a mech to check out? Assuming things check out, what would be a fair offer? Thanks, Hong |

there are some good tips on that site, look for that rust spot too, take car of that, if not it'll just get bigger, check all the rust spots the site says. about the mech, not sure just ask him to see if the cars okay i guess. i threw so much crap at my supra 85 its all stock except exhaust, ohh and suspension. i drifted, raced, daily driver. anything will come its way. just make sure to keep it maintained like any other car. and im not sure about the offer, check it up on cars.com |

MkII's are cool cars, light and durable like most other toyotas, what's the asking price?
Blue, red, burgendy, ect interiors are notorious for fading and looking like garbage, but, since it was garage kept... Fixing the window glass is easy, just time consuming, take your time, get the factory service manual, and it will tell you exactly how to do it, it will save yah some cash. Sunroof might leak, other than that, they seem to be more durable than the MKIII's.... <_< |
