I have owned a few nice cars in my day. A show winning 97 GTI-VR6 that I installed numerous mods on including a Vortech supercharger, a 1999 BMW M coupe, a 1988 Celica All-trac, a 1983 Supra and when I was in the market for a car last winter and ran across this 89 Turbo Supra I knew I had to pick it up since it was so clean and stock. I'm going to describe the car and I'm very brutally honest and picky so I will point out all that I can for you. I hate going to buy a car and finding out that there are obvious things that the seller left out of the description so please keep in mind that I'm going to point out things for your benefit and it will probably be more than you will ever see another seller do. Yeah, it may be an 89, but I'm gonna be hard on it.
![]() The car is bone stock and all I did was add a Lipp intake adapter and an AEM dry flow filter after researching that they were the best for the car. This car is absolutely a head turner. It has just over 64k original miles on it. The po said that the entire engine was just gone through and a new clutch was also installed. A long time friend of mine is a tech and he knows the master technician that the po named. He said he has been around a long time and is one of the best. The engine runs like a sewing machine. Quiet and powerful. The car drives PERFECT and handles nice and tight. Boost as it should and of course the pearl white paint shines beautifully. I'm 32 years old and have gotten over the speed bug mostly, but still like to own nice performance vehicles that you don't often see around. This is a sport touring car and perfect for me, but I must sell it due to needing a work van for a new job that I'm in the middle of the interview process for. I planned on keeping this car and making a few mild changes to it to improve on what is already there and then driving it for a very long time without any problems since it is in such nice shape. It is very rare that you will find one of these cars bone stock anymore. Exterior wise the car is gorgeous. I've pictured a couple scuffs that are on it and there may be only a couple dings and some scuffs on the spoiler where someone sat something. It is very hard to get a picture without the bright white glaring, but let the pics speak for themselves here. The rear bumper is the only area where the paint isn't as excellent as the rest of the car. The car is just beautiful and is the nicest looking MKIII I've seen. It has the targa top and even still has the plastic covers to go over the holes where the targa top was! The stock tool for the targa top is still there and the top operates perfectly and stows just as it should. All lights work as they should and lenses are shiny and clear! Another note about the paint. I washed, clay barred, and waxed the car and the paint is as smooth and shiny as any car that I've ever owned. All me I should keep it because it is so nice looking, but I have to earn money to live. The Supra isn't quite big enough to sleep in every night. The interior is very clean. I took pics without the new mats in the car to show how nice the carpet condition is. The blue interior is a great look with the white exterior I think. Drivers seat is power with lumber and side bolster adjustment and it all works as it should. There are a few marks on the seats of course since it is an 89 so I tried to get a picture of them. Some of the pics were in such bright light that the seats look a bit purple, but I assure you they are blue and not faded. The car must not have sat out in the sun much at all. There was once something installed on the side of the dash so I showed a picture of that as well. I have a friend that does interior repairs and if he has time I'll have him look at the marks on the seats to see if they can be fixed. As I said, I'm very picky and I'm going to point out things that most others wouldn't even mention in their ad so I hope you look at the pics and realize just how nice the car really is. The car did not have a rear luggage area cover deal so I bought one, but it needs a little work to be super nice and look as good as the rest of the car, but I wanted the car to have everything it came with when new. All gauges work as they should. TEMS system works as it should. Windows and locks work perfect. The drivers window switch little tab that sticks up in the middle is broken off, but it still works fine. I didn't get around to getting another one. Car has auto climate control. Air doesn't blow cold but the heat works great and all controls work fine. The car has a Kenwood cd player with ipod/aux jack. Power antenna does not come up for some reason, but I only listen to my mp3 player anyway. Car also has the factory alarm that works just as it should. Mechanically the car runs great. Boosts where it should from what I've read about the car. Pulls smooth and hard when accelerating. Suspension is nice and tight and the tems really works great to make the car fun in the curves. As I said the car is bone stock except for the Lipp adapter and AEM dry flow that I added. All exhaust is stock from engine to tip. One of the mufflers leaks just a little. It actually leaks just such a small bit that it makes the exhaust sound a little aggressive and I like to be able to hear the car a little bit. The only other issue I've had with the car is that occasionally the check engine light comes on. I had the code ran and if I remember correctly it was 71 or 70? It was just an egr code whichever number it was so nothing to worry about since often it wasn't on. When I took the pictures it wasn't on as you can see in the photo. The wheels on the car now do not come with it, (friends wheels I've been borrowing) but it comes with brand new tires on the white stock wheels. Two of the stock wheels have some curbing and the other two are in good shape. I hope this car finds a great new owner that will care for it and not rag it out to death like almost every other Supra out there. I would not be afraid to drive this car across the country right now. It has performed flawlessly for me in the last 8 or so months I've owned it. I've replaced the front brake pads only because they squeaked. (they still squeak so it must be the rotors haha). I have the original window sale paper and it says 29 or 30 thousand on it written in marker because it must have faded out over time. Any questions please contact me at rob_slayden@yahoo.com or call 574-234-7167. The car is located in South Bend, IN. I'd like to get out of it just the same as what I have into it. I'll even throw in the HKS pipe I picked up that goes onto the throttle body if I get what I'm asking. $6,000 obo. Please view the gallery to see the MANY photos I've taken.
